The museum of war and resistance to the Chinese people of Japanese aggression is one of the few military museums that can be visited in modern Beijing. This object, located in a large modern building inside the walls of the ancient fortress Vazpin in the southwestern part of the capital of the People's Republic of China, can be safely considered modern and attractive for visitors, including foreigners, after it was renovated in 2005.
As a result of the Revolution of Maidzi, which began in the 1860s, for several decades, Japan has become a medieval isolated state in a major player in the international arena with its own industry and an army based on the best Western samples. Japan also quickly wished - following the example of European colonial powers and the United States - territorial development and colonies. This was to lead to a conflict with China, which at that time was a giant, exploited and the blackmailed authorities of that time, nevertheless a great state applying to its traditional spheres of influence.
The first Chinese-Japanese war was conducted in 1894-1895 and ended with a crushing defeat of China. This undermined the authority of the Chinese Qing Dynasty, which in the next two decades should have caused its collapse, deepening the civil war and the intervention of foreign powers. Meanwhile, the uprisings began 1899-1901. Japan enriched at the expense of territorial acquisitions: Formosa (Taiwan) and Sencaku Islands. More importantly, as a result of this war, Korea ceased to be dependent on China, due to which in 1905 (after the unexpected defeat of the Russian Empire in the war of 1904-1905 and the marginalization of its role in the Far East), it became a Japanese protectory.
In 1912, China declared himself a republic, but his leaders could not bring order in the country. As before, the state was ruled by local field commanders who, in the name of the fight against rivals, were ready to cooperate with colonial empires. In Manchuria, there was open cooperation with the Japanese, who were adjacent to this northern territory through Korea. Separated China became the following goal of Japanese colonialism. In 1915, Tokyo demanded far-reaching political and economic privileges from Beijing, and during World War II, the Japanese army seized German possessions in the Far East, including German possessions in China on Shandong Peninsula.
